NEW DELHI: The Indian National Congress is poised to finalize its candidates for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections during a meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEC) in Delhi. According to state unit chief K Selvaperunthagai, 85% of the names have already been decided.

Electoral Landscape and Predictions
The main electoral battle is anticipated between the DMK-led SPA and the NDA led by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), which includes allies BJP and PMK. A recent survey by polling agency Lok Poll indicates a strong performance for the DMK alliance, predicting they may secure between 181 to 189 seats with a 40.1% vote share, while the AIADMK-led alliance is projected to win 38 to 42 seats.

Tamil Nadu is set to hold its elections in a single phase on April 23, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4. The last date for filing nominations is April 6, scrutiny will occur on April 7, and candidates can withdraw their nominations until April 9.
