Malayalam comedy-drama ‘Aadu 3’ has defied mixed initial reviews to achieve a remarkable Rs 115.18 crore worldwide. The film, featuring time-travel elements and Shaji Pappan’s gang, has shown consistent box office performance, particularly in its opening week. Despite a slight dip in the second week, its international reception has significantly boosted its overall earnings.
Release Details and Initial Response
The Malayalam comedy-drama movie ‘Aadu 3’ was released on March 19 and opened to mixed reviews at the box office. During this period, particularly amidst the ‘Dhurnadhar’ wave, the film successfully entered the Rs 100 crore club and recorded a collection of Rs 73 lakh on Thursday.
Box Office Collections Breakdown
According to trade analyst Sacnilk, ‘Aadu 3’ had a strong opening, collecting Rs 6.03 crore. The film maintained impressive numbers throughout its opening weekend, grossing Rs 6.48 crore, Rs 7.28 crore, and Rs 7.26 crore on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively. This brought the total for the first week to Rs 36.63 crore.
However, in the second week, collections saw a slight decline: Rs 1.45 crore on the second Friday, followed by Rs 2.28 crore and Rs 2.65 crore on the second Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Following Thursday’s collection of Rs 73 lakh across 829 shows, the movie’s total now stands at Rs 47.08 crore, bringing its total India gross collections to Rs 54.43 crore.
Notably, the film also received a positive reception internationally, grossing a total of Rs 60.75 crore abroad. This makes the overall worldwide gross collection of ‘Aadu 3’ an impressive Rs 115.18 crore.
Theatre Occupancy Rates
The film recorded an overall theatre occupancy of 18.28%. The morning shows had an occupancy of 8.25%, which increased to 15% in the afternoon. Evening shows reported occupancy rates of 16.58%, peaking at 27.67% during nighttime screenings.
