After the success of The Archies, Agastya Nanda made a significant mark in the film industry with his theatrical debut in Ikkis, where he plays the role of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. Despite being a newcomer, media attention often focuses on his lineage, particularly his relationship to the legendary Amitabh Bachchan and the Kapoor family.

In a recent interview, Agastya made it clear that he does not identify himself through the surnames associated with his famous family. He reaffirmed that his identity starts and ends with the name Nanda. While being Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson comes with a certain level of scrutiny, Agastya expressed that he does not feel burdened by these expectations.

During an engaging session with filmmaker Sriram Raghavan and co-star Simar Bhatia, Agastya was asked about the pressures that come with his familial connections. Raghavan directly inquired, “Does that put a lot of pressure on you?”

Agastya’s response was insightful: “I don’t take that pressure in the slightest because that’s not my legacy to own. My surname is Nanda because I am my father’s son first. I focus on making him proud—that’s the legacy I carry very heavily.” He acknowledges the impressive careers of his relatives but emphasizes his individual path.

Family Background: Two Influential Lineages

Agastya Nanda is the son of Shweta Nanda, the daughter of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. On his father’s side, Nikhil Nanda is the son of Ritu Nanda, who is Raj Kapoor’s daughter. This places Agastya in the nexus of two of Hindi cinema’s most prominent families.

The interview also included fun moments, reflecting the camaraderie among the cast. Simar Bhatia lightheartedly described Agastya as a "bully" and a "complaint box." Recalling their time on the film set, Agastya noted Simar’s studious nature, sharing playful anecdotes about her meticulous preparations.

Simar humorously responded, claiming that no one could outsmart the unique vision of director Sriram Raghavan. Agastya chimed in with laughter, noting Simar’s directive style during dance scenes.

Box Office Success of ‘Ikkis’

Ikkis premiered in theaters on January 1 and features notable performances, including Dharmendra in a posthumous role and Jaideep Ahlawat in a significant part. In just five days of release, the film has already garnered ₹20.72 crore at the domestic box office.
