New Deadline for Clubs
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has announced a three-day extension for Mohun Bagan Super Giant (MBSG) and Kerala Blasters to pay their initial participation fees for the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 season. Teams now have until April 5 (Sunday) to make the payment.
Payment Structure
According to the revised financial model provided to the clubs, the payment schedule requires each team to pay Rs 30 lakh by March 5, an additional Rs 30 lakh between March 28 and April 4, and a final Rs 20 lakh by May 1.
Disqualification Warning for Defaulting Clubs
The AIFF has warned that failure to pay the full amount, which includes a daily fine of Rs 1 lakh for late payments, could result in the disqualification of the clubs from the competition. If payments are not made within seven days, a notice will be issued to the defaulting clubs, which will face disqualification if the owed funds are not settled within an additional four days.
Final and Binding Decision
The AIFF has clarified that its decisions regarding these payments are "final, binding, and not appealable." This stipulation emphasizes the importance of compliance by all participating teams.
Financial Model Changes
The revision to the financial model has drastically reduced AIFF’s contribution to the league’s operational costs from Rs 9.7 crore to zero. The federation has reported a revenue deficit of Rs 25.9 crore in its 2024-25 audited statements.
Looking for a New Commercial Partner
Following the exit of Reliance-subsidiary FSDL in December 2025, AIFF has been managing the ISL without the annual Rs 50 crore previously gained from commercial rights. The governing body is actively seeking a new partner for the next 15-20 years, with the bidding process closing on March 26. Notable contenders, including GMR Sports, FanCode, and Capri Sports, have entered the bidding arena.
