Amit Shah Addresses Recent Controversy

Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently dismissed rampant rumors about a purported video featuring controversial ex-TMC leader Humayun Kabir. The video allegedly suggests Kabir had made a “Rs 1,000 crore deal” with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aimed at undermining Mamata Banerjee’s ruling Trinamool Congress in the upcoming elections.

Shah’s Firm Stance Against Alliance

While campaigning in West Bengal, Shah emphasized that Kabir and the BJP "can never align." He characterized their relationship as mutually exclusive, much like the North and South Poles. During a press conference to unveil the BJP’s manifesto, Shah accused the Trinamool Congress of fabricating political conspiracies.

He stated, “You do not know Mamata Banerjee’s capabilities. She can create 2,000 such videos. Humayun Kabir and the BJP are like the North Pole and the South Pole. We can never be together.” Shah further declared that the BJP would prefer to remain in the opposition for 20 years rather than partner with someone who expresses intentions to construct a Babri Masjid in Bengal.

Kabir Responds to Allegations

In light of these accusations, Kabir vehemently denied the claims and referred to the video as a product of fabrication, allegedly generated using artificial intelligence. He stated, “I have not entered into any agreement with anyone. The clip shared by the Trinamool Congress does not provide context regarding who was present during my remarks.”

Kabir turned the tables on the TMC by mentioning the controversial Narada sting case, questioning the lack of action taken against TMC leaders Firhad Hakim and Sougata Roy, who were implicated in those videos.

Kabir’s Defiance in the Election Race

Despite the mounting controversy, Kabir made it clear that he has no intention of retracting from his political ambitions. “I was born alone and will fight alone. I will not retreat from the battle I have begun,” he asserted.

The controversy originated from a recently circulated 19-minute video claimed by the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), allegedly featuring Kabir discussing a covert understanding with the BJP. The authenticity of this video has not been independently verified.

TMC’s Allegations Against Kabir

In the video, an individual resembling Kabir purportedly discusses his connection to political figures such as Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The person is also claimed to have expressed readiness to take drastic measures to remove Mamata Banerjee from power, claiming to have received Rs 200 crore as part of a larger Rs 1,000 crore arrangement.

The TMC has used this video as evidence to allege that Kabir’s anti-Mamata rhetoric, coupled with his efforts to establish a Muslim political front, forms part of a BJP strategy to split minority votes, particularly in regions like Murshidabad, Malda, Uttar Dinajpur, and Birbhum.
