In an age dominated by digital interactions, it seems that no one can truly escape the grip of social media, even celebrities. Recently, renowned Hollywood actor Andrew Garfield shared his experiences with doom scrolling, revealing that he is not immune to the allure of online content.
Andrew Garfield’s Confession on Doom Scrolling
At the London premiere of his latest film, ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’, Garfield candidly spoke with the Associated Press. Despite not having public social media accounts, he admitted to using "creeper accounts" to stay updated on social media, just like many of us.
“I’m just as bad as everyone else,” Garfield remarked. “Because I’m a human, and they’ve figured out exactly how to hook us in. So no, I’m not immune to it.” He emphasized the importance of discipline, noting how even without a public profile, he often gets sucked into endless scrolling.
A Slip from Florence Pugh: Garfield’s Social Media Habits
Interestingly, Garfield’s covert online presence was hinted at by his co-star Florence Pugh during a Vanity Fair interview. While discussing Garfield’s social media habits, she inadvertently revealed, “Well, you don’t have any public social network, but the ones that you do, that I do know of you using, you tweet.”
Although Garfield quickly refuted the claim, stating, “I’ve never tweeted,” he did acknowledge that he occasionally "looks at twits."
The Challenge of Social Media Control
In his conversation with the AP, Garfield expressed admiration for those who manage to control their social media usage, particularly parents. “The idea of being able to do that with young kids is almost impossible. I’m honestly in awe of people who can set boundaries for their kids, and a lot of my friends and family actually manage it,” he shared.
