Sources indicate that this visit aims to facilitate discussions with the counsels, as the fugitive diamantaire has exhausted his legal options in the UK.

This strategic move follows the rejection of Modi’s petition to reopen proceedings against his extradition order by the High Court of Justice, King’s Bench Division, London. The court’s decision marks a significant setback for Modi, who is facing serious charges back in India.

Discussions on International Legal Avenues

During their visit, the CBI team is also expected to discuss a petition that Nirav Modi has filed in France. This petition seeks assistance from the European Court of Human Rights, which has categorized the case as confidential. A hearing is scheduled in Strasbourg, tentatively set for mid-April, where the Indian side will be present.

Imminent Extradition Proceedings

Recent developments suggest that Nirav Modi’s extradition from the UK prison is now imminent.
