Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the enduring legacy of Sikh gurus, who dedicated their lives to faith, nation, and humanity. He remarked that history is crafted by those embodying sacrifice and renunciation, acknowledging the extraordinary devotion of Sikh gurus in India.
Commemorating the Martyrdom of the Sahibzadas
During a kirtan held in honor of Veer Bal Diwas, marking the martyrdom of the four Sahibzadas—Baba Ajit Singh, Baba Jujhar Singh, Baba Zorawar Singh, and Baba Fateh Singh—the Chief Minister underscored the importance of this day. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for granting national recognition to this significant event.
Highlighting the Teachings of Guru Nanak and Guru Tegh Bahadur
Yogi Adityanath pointed out that Guru Nanak spread his message throughout India, while Guru Tegh Bahadur and Guru Gobind Singh exemplified devotion through their sacrifices. "This year marks the 350th anniversary of the martyrdom of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji," he said, noting the symbolic timing with the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Veer Bal Diwas: Inspiring Future Generations
The Chief Minister announced that December 26 is now celebrated as Veer Bal Diwas, observed in schools, colleges, and offices nationwide. He stressed the importance of including the stories of the Sahibzadas in educational curricula to inspire future generations with values of sacrifice and selflessness.
The Significance of Sikh Traditions
Yogi also highlighted the Sikh tradition of langar as a potent symbol of social harmony, transcending caste and religion. He acknowledged Guru Gobind Singh’s role in uniting society, urging the youth to draw inspiration from the sacrifices made by the Guru’s family.
Commitment to Honoring Sikh Legacy
In conclusion, the CM assured the full support of both the BJP government and the Central government for organizing events to commemorate the 350th martyrdom year of Guru Tegh Bahadur, affirming the significance of preserving and promoting the values of the Sikh heritage.
