Intense Preparation for Upcoming Matches
India’s premier all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, was recently spotted in an intensive training environment ahead of the first ODI against New Zealand at the Kotambi Stadium. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video showcasing Jadeja’s innovative bowling drills.
Innovative Bowling Drills Under Supervision
During the training session, Jadeja was involved in a unique drill where he aimed to pitch the ball accurately between different colored cones placed on the pitch. Bowling coach Morne Morkel closely monitored and guided him throughout this specialized training.
Jadeja explained, “Coach gave me a task: when I am about to pitch the ball, he will name the colour—blue, green, or red. I have to pitch the ball closer to that colour with accuracy, like in a normal match setting." This exercise included two blue balls for full deliveries, requiring rapid adjustments to his pitching strategy.
Recent Performance and Confidence Boost
Jadeja heads into the series with a strong sense of form, fitness, and confidence. In domestic cricket, he has demonstrated his prowess, scoring an unbeaten 52 against Gujarat, followed by 36 runs and figures of 1 for 48 against Services in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His recent performances have fortified his readiness for the international stage.
Impressive ODI Record Against New Zealand
With over 15 years of experience, Jadeja boasts an impressive record against New Zealand. In 16 ODIs, he has scored 386 runs at an outstanding average of 48.25, complemented by 10 wickets. His consistent performances make him a crucial asset for the national team.
Upcoming ODI Schedule
Following the series opener in Kotambi, the second ODI is scheduled to take place at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on January 14, and the final match will be held at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on January 18. Fans are eagerly awaiting these fixtures as Jadeja aims to build on his successful training and prior performances.
