NEW DELHI: The ‘Campus to Market – Delhi Startup Yuva Festival 2026’ was inaugurated on Wednesday by Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary, alongside Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta. This event took place at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre and is organized by the Directorate of Training and Technical Education (DTTE) of the Government of Delhi.

Engaging with Innovators and Entrepreneurs

During the festival, both the Union Minister and Chief Minister interacted with young innovators, teachers, investors, and startup founders from various educational institutions. They reviewed a diverse exhibition showcasing student-led innovations, emphasizing the creativity and problem-solving skills of young entrepreneurs.

Government Support for Startup Growth

Chaudhary and Gupta visited the startup exhibition, exploring numerous innovations, prototypes, and business models. They engaged in discussions with student teams about their startup ideas and market strategies, assuring them of ongoing guidance to turn their innovations into real-world solutions. Other dignitaries, including Delhi Government Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood, also attended the occasion.

The Youth Empowerment Mission

Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary highlighted India’s youthful demographic as a significant asset, stressing the need for opportunities tailored to harness their potential. He critiqued the traditional education system, asserting that it often neglects students who do not fit conventional learning models. Emphasizing a shift toward skill-based education, he stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, educational paradigms are evolving.

From Job Seekers to Job Creators

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta pointed out that today’s youth are transitioning from being mere ‘job seekers’ to ‘job creators.’ She noted that the government is working to strengthen the startup ecosystem, providing platforms and policies that encourage young people to transform ideas into enterprises. Gupta urged the youth to adopt a solutions-driven mindset to lead global innovation.

Transforming the Educational Landscape

Ashish Sood, the education minister, remarked on the previously scattered startup initiatives in Delhi, which lacked a structured systematic approach. He asserted that the government is now integrating education, skills, and entrepreneurship, creating a cohesive ecosystem that connects students with industry, mentors, and investors.

The Campus to Market Approach

The ‘Campus to Market’ framework is a centerpiece of the festival, bringing together 11 universities, 12 colleges, and 19 ITIs on a single platform. This structured initiative offers students access to mentorship, funding, and market opportunities, thereby fostering entrepreneurship.

Significant Impact and Achievements

Currently, over 75,000 students are engaged in entrepreneurship programs, with more than 470 startups in incubation. These student startups have generated significant revenue, creating jobs and enhancing economic growth. The education minister mentioned that, under the NEEEV curriculum, multiple student teams have received financial assistance, further supporting innovation.

Awards and Recognition

At the Startup Yuva Festival, noteworthy startups were rewarded with equity-free grants. The top six startups received ₹10 lakh each, while the next 100 received ₹1 lakh each. This recognition aims to incentivize young innovators in their entrepreneurial journeys.

Future Initiatives

The Delhi Government plans to implement a comprehensive Startup Policy, allocating ₹325 crore over the next five years with a target of developing 5,000 startups by 2035. The Startup Yuva Festival serves as a flagship initiative to solidify Delhi’s position as the Startup Capital of India.
