Delhi Expands Healthcare Access with Ayushman Arogya Mandirs

Introduction of New Healthcare Centres

On Makar Sankranti, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated 81 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, increasing the total number of such healthcare centres in the national capital to 319. This initiative aims to enhance healthcare accessibility for residents, especially in underserved communities.

Objective of the Expansion

The newly inaugurated facilities are located in the Hari Nagar Assembly constituency. This expansion is part of the Delhi government’s plan to establish 15 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in every Assembly constituency, bringing the total to 1,100 centres across the city.

Facility Features and Inspection

During her visit to the Hari Nagar Ayushman Arogya Mandir, Gupta inspected various facilities, including:

• OPD Rooms
• Laboratories
• Medicine Distribution Counters
• Vaccination Units
• Maternal and Child Healthcare Centres

She also reviewed patient registration processes and digital health records to ensure transparency and ease of access for users.

Interaction with Healthcare Staff

Chief Minister Gupta engaged with doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff to evaluate the quality of service delivery at these new centres.

Key Healthcare Initiatives

Highlighting the various healthcare initiatives by the Delhi government, Gupta mentioned:

• Establishment of 319 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs

Improved Patient Accessibility

Patients can now conveniently access OPD appointments and medical records through mobile applications, significantly improving transparency and patient engagement.

Beneficiary Statistics Under Ayushman Bharat

Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, over 600,000 individuals in Delhi have registered, with thousands of families receiving free treatment. Notably, the income limit for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category has increased from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh.

New Initiatives in Bawana Assembly Constituency

Social Welfare Minister Ravindra Singh Indraj recently inaugurated two Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in the Bawana Assembly constituency. He reported that development projects exceeding ₹1,100 crore are currently underway, covering various essential infrastructures like:

• Cremation grounds
• Community halls
• Roads and drains
• Sewer lines and pipelines

Additionally, there are plans to develop two villages into solar energy-based model villages.

Infrastructure Development in Karawal Nagar

Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra launched an Ayushman Arogya Mandir at the MCW centre in Sonia Vihar. He noted that comprehensive development works are in progress in Karawal Nagar, including enhancements to:

• Drinking water systems
• Sewer lines
• Electricity infrastructure
• Highways and metro connectivity

New Facilities in Bhimnagari

Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh inaugurated an Ayushman Arogya Mandir in Bhimnagari, emphasizing that the centre will soon offer a dental care unit, yoga facilities, and panchakarma services. Currently, the in-house diagnostic facilities cover 100 tests, with plans to expand to 200.

Continued Expansion in Janakpuri

Education Minister Ashish Sood initiated an Ayushman Arogya Mandir in the Janakpuri Assembly constituency. He highlighted efforts to upgrade the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital into a fully equipped super-speciality hospital, as well as the construction of additional Arogya Mandirs in areas like Mahavir Enclave and Milap Nagar.
