Aditya Dhar’s spy action thriller, Dhurandhar, has shattered box office records by surpassing the Rs 1000 crore mark globally. Starring Ranveer Singh, the film has become the ninth Indian film ever and the first release of 2025 to join the prestigious Rs 1000 crore club, solidifying its status as a modern blockbuster.
Remarkably, the film achieved this milestone in just 22 days, making it the second fastest Bollywood film to reach this impressive feat—an extraordinary accomplishment that showcases its unstoppable momentum across both domestic and international markets.
Adult-rated Film Defies Odds with Massive Word of Mouth
The achievement of Dhurandhar is even more astonishing considering it is an adult-rated film, a category often seen as limiting in audience reach. Despite this challenge, the movie has thrived, driven by strong word of mouth, repeat viewership, and sustained occupancy rates.
In India, Dhurandhar has emerged as the highest-grossing Bollywood film, while overseas—particularly in North America—its performance has set new benchmarks for Bollywood spy thrillers.
Joining Legends: From Baahubali 2 to Kalki 2898 AD
The Rs 1000 crore milestone was first achieved by SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in 2017, which collected a staggering Rs 1788.06 crore globally. Following this, Aamir Khan and Nitesh Tiwari’s Dangal broke records to become the only Indian film to surpass Rs 2000 crore, a record it still holds.
Since then, the elite club has expanded to include films such as Rajamouli’s RRR (Rs 1230 crore), Prashanth Neel’s KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 1215 crore), Atlee’s Jawan (Rs 1160 crore), Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan (Rs 1055 crore), and Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD (Rs 1042.25 crore). Dhurandhar now proudly joins this league with a worldwide total of Rs 1006.7 crore in just 22 days.
Strong Box Office Hold Promises Bigger Numbers
With its ongoing stronghold in key circuits, Dhurandhar is expected to add significantly to its already historic total in the coming days. As of now, the film has amassed Rs 648.50 crore domestically, demonstrating its dominance at the Indian box office.
Featuring Ranveer Singh alongside a stellar ensemble cast that includes Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, and R. Madhavan, Dhurandhar stands out as one of the most significant box office phenomena in Indian cinema history.
Looking ahead, the sequel, Dhurandhar 2, is set to hit theatres on March 19, 2026, with expectations already soaring high.
