In a conversation on the Chennai Super Kings YouTube channel, Mhatre explained how a simple text message turned into a personal meeting. After Rohit encouraged him to seek guidance after his first IPL appearance against the Mumbai Indians, Mhatre sent a message requesting to meet.

Making the Journey

Mhatre recalls:
“I was about to go on the England tour, and I wanted to speak to him a bit. I messaged him saying I wanted to meet him, and he called me directly. He asked where I lived; I said Virar. He said, ‘Will you come from Virar to meet me?’ I eagerly responded, ‘Yes, I can come anywhere to meet you.’”

Choosing In-Person Over Virtual Talks

While Rohit suggested a video call, Mhatre was determined to meet him face-to-face. The following day, he made the trip to Rohit’s residence, where they engaged in a conversation that lasted nearly two hours. Mhatre noted, “It was crazy that he gave me so much time; that’s a big thing for me. My idol gave me time, so it was a dream for me — a dream day.”
