Kolkata Knight Riders Win Toss, Opt to Bowl Against Sunrisers Hyderabad

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured the toss in the sixth match of IPL 2026 and chose to bowl first against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). SRH welcomed left-arm wrist spinner Shivang Kumar into their lineup, while KKR maintained consistency by fielding the same team that performed well in their previous match. Both teams are looking to bounce back after losing their opening games.

Rahane Highlights the Importance of Bowling Unit

Ajinkya Rahane, captain of KKR, emphasized the need for improvement while reflecting on the positives from their last game. He stated, “There is always room for improvement, but there were many positives from the last game—our batting unit performed well. While our bowling showcased some inexperience, I’m confident they will perform better.”

Discussing the match conditions, Rahane noted, “With recent rainfall, the pitch has a bit of grass. Although dew is usually a factor, the wind might alter that. Generally, dew sets in around 7:30-8 PM, but I believe this wicket will remain good for 40 overs.”

He also mentioned the progress of Cameron Green, saying he is undergoing necessary treatment and will soon be back bowling. KKR is banking on a consistent performance with the same team.

SRH’s Plan of Execution After Being Put to Bat

Ishan Kishan, captain of SRH, expressed a strategic mindset as they prepare to bat first. “I would have preferred to bowl first, but batting here at Eden is crucial to understanding how the pitch will play. Mindset is important; we need to execute our plans effectively and remain calm in challenging situations,” Kishan explained.

He acknowledged the significance of player availability, particularly referencing Pat Cummins’ potential return to strengthen their squad. Additionally, Kishan explained the inclusion of Shivang Kumar in their lineup as an opportunity to bolster wicket-taking options based on his impressive practice performances.
