Karan Johar Reveals SRK’s Quirky Judgment on Jeans
Karan Johar, a National Award-winning filmmaker, opened up about one of Shah Rukh Khan’s peculiarities. On ‘The Manyavar Shaadi Show,’ Karan stated, “He (Shah Rukh Khan) has OCD about the fit of the jeans.” He elaborated, “He can judge you if you wear badly-fitted jeans. He will think you are a bad person.”
Every time Karan visits Mannat, SRK gives him a critical look regarding his choice of jeans. Karan humorously recounted, “I tell myself not to wear jeans, knowing I might get that eye from SRK.”
The ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ Connection
Further delving into SRK’s obsessive style preferences, Karan revealed that this all began when they first met on the sets of ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.’ As an assistant director, Karan was responsible for Shah Rukh’s wardrobe choices. Observing SRK’s build, he suggested a brand of jeans that would flatter him better.
Interestingly, the brand Karan recommended wasn’t easily accessible in India back in 1994. Undeterred, he did everything possible to make it happen. However, Shah Rukh humorously questioned, “Who is this mad person giving me advice?”
Shah Rukh then sought help from Aditya Chopra, who, referencing Karan, remarked, “Yeh South Bombay se aaya hai… inn logon ko pata hota hai [He is from South Bombay; these people know it].” Since that encounter, SRK developed a keen eye for denim fashion.
