Malavika Mohanan Reflects on Thalapathy Vijay’s Cinema Legacy Amid Jana Nayagan Delay

With Jana Nayagan widely believed to be Thalapathy Vijay’s final big-screen appearance, the postponement of the film has intensified feelings among fans and colleagues. Malavika Mohanan, who starred alongside Vijay in Master, recently spoke about the significance of his cinematic presence over the years.

    Malavika’s Emotional Tribute to Vijay

Expressing the sense of loss shared by many fans, Malavika stated in an interview with India Today, “Like all his other fans, I’ll miss him on the big screen. Every time one of his films is released, it feels like a festival.”

The Unique Frenzy Surrounding Vijay’s Films

Malavika highlighted the electric atmosphere surrounding Vijay’s film releases, especially in Tamil Nadu. She said, “There’s so much electricity and euphoria in the air leading up to the release. You really have to be in Chennai, in Tamil Nadu, to experience that. Very few actors can create that kind of atmosphere when their films are coming out.”

    A Humble Superstar

Recalling her experience on the set of Master, Malavika praised Vijay’s grounded nature despite his immense popularity. “It was lovely working with him on Master. You don’t feel like you’re working with one of the biggest superstars. He’s very sweet, very humble, and an excellent listener,” she shared. She further emphasized his attentiveness, noting, “He genuinely wants to know about you. He listens, observes people, and has a very sharp sense of understanding.”

The Reason Behind the Jana Nayagan Delay

Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan was initially scheduled for release on January 9. However, the producers announced a delay, stating, “It is with a heavy heart we share this update with our valued stakeholders and audiences. The release… has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances beyond our control.” They promised fans that the new release date would be announced as soon as possible.

The postponement was attributed to delays in certification, with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) requesting cuts and muted dialogues. Although changes were being made, the certification was not issued in time, leading the makers to approach the Madras High Court, which has reserved its order, effectively putting the release on hold.

    Looking Ahead

On the work front, Malavika Mohanan will next appear in The Raja Saab, featuring Prabhas, which is slated for release on January 9.
