As protests unfolded, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the BJP, initiated counter-protests against Banerjee. Leading figures among them included Derek O’Brien and Mahua Moitra, who attempted to enter the home ministry but were stopped, prompting a sit-in protest before their forceful removal.
