Mitchell Starc, the left-arm fast bowler for Delhi Capitals, has recently faced criticism regarding his absence from the initial games of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. In response, he has clarified that an elbow injury is the reason for his delayed arrival in India.

He stated, "Despite the opinions and views of certain individuals with their platforms in and through the Indian media, I’m currently rehabbing and managing an injury in my shoulder and elbow, of which I didn’t know the extent during the Australian summer."

Starc criticized what he referred to as misleading commentary on his situation, highlighting the inaccuracies in various media reports. He reflected, "These individuals have made strong statements regarding involvement in the IPL, providing heavily misinformed opinions of players, and claiming to know my body better than I do."

Starc’s Commitment to Delhi Capitals

Despite the temporary setback, Starc expressed his unwavering commitment to the Delhi Capitals. He acknowledged, “I do understand this injury setback is disruptive to the Delhi team, and I apologize for that and to the fans for not being available for the early part of this season.”

He concluded his remarks reassuring fans and the team, stating, “I remain committed to joining DC, am in continual communication updating the team, and will continue to do what I can to be available for DC as soon as possible.”
