Mrunal Thakur Expresses Disappointment Over ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ Changes

Mrunal Thakur is currently making headlines as she promotes her latest Hindi-Telugu movie, Dacoit: A Love Story. However, it’s her candid reflections on Son of Sardaar 2 that have caught the media’s attention.

‘That’s Not What I Expected from the Movie’

In a recent interview, Mrunal opened up about her unexpected experiences during the filming of Son of Sardaar 2. She expressed her surprise over a major casting decision that impacted her character significantly.

“I didn’t know a very senior actor was going to play my husband,” she remarked. “This just changed my expectations for the movie, and I felt a bit of trust was shaken. But, you know what, I don’t have regrets."

In Son of Sardaar 2, Mrunal portrays Rabia Akhtar, while the well-known actor Chunky Panday takes on the role of her estranged husband Danish. Ajay Devgn plays Jaswinder Singh Randhawa, also known as Jassi, who is married to Dimple, portrayed by Neeru Bajwa. The film’s storyline centers around Rabia and Jassi finding love amidst their complicated marriages.

‘Two Important Scenes Were Cut’

Mrunal further delved into her disappointment regarding crucial emotional scenes that were ultimately left out of the final cut. She highlighted a particularly touching scene with Roshni Walia, who plays her stepdaughter Saba.

“I did not know that two important scenes of mine would be edited out,” she explained. “There’s a beautiful moment where I console Roshni’s character, who expresses that it’s better to have me in her life than a mother. That narrative was missing, and it was heartfelt.”

Despite these setbacks, Mrunal expressed her appreciation for the team behind Son of Sardaar 2, noting the positive relationships she has built during the project.

Busy Year Ahead with Multiple Releases

In addition to Son of Sardaar 2, Mrunal has also appeared in projects like Do Deewane Seher Mein. She is currently focused on promoting Dacoit: A Love Story but has more upcoming films in the pipeline, including Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and Pooja Meri Jaan.

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by David Dhawan, features stars Varun Dhawan and Pooja Hegde in lead roles. The film’s first look, which showcases AI-generated twin babies discussing their parentage, has sparked debate online about its authenticity. Audiences can expect this rom-com to hit theaters on June 3.
