Mukesh Bhatt Addresses Delayed Release of Awarapan 2

Film producer Mukesh Bhatt has recently spoken out about the delay in releasing Awarapan 2. Contrary to popular belief, he clarified that this postponement is not due to concerns about box office competition from Dhurandhar Part 2 or the Yash-starrer Toxic.

Release Pushed Due to Emraan Hashmi’s Injury

During an interview with PTI, Bhatt revealed that the release date of Awarapan 2 has been postponed from its original April 13 schedule. The reason for this delay? Emraan Hashmi’s unfortunate accident during filming, which necessitated surgery. Bhatt explained, “As a result, he isn’t allowed to do action for 45 days, so all the action sequences will be filmed later.”

The new release window is set for either May or June, pending the completion of the remaining shooting.

Remaining Production Work Scheduled in Malaysia

According to Bhatt, only one shooting schedule remains for Awarapan 2. Approximately 20 days of filming will take place in Malaysia starting in March. This production delay highlights the challenges that filmmakers often face when unforeseen circumstances arise.

The Legacy of Awarapan

Awarapan 2 is a highly anticipated sequel to the 2007 action-romance film Awarapan, which gained cult status over the years. While the original was directed by Mohit Suri, the sequel is being helmed by Nitin Kakkar, with a screenplay by Bilal Siddiqui. Notable cast members include Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi.

Competition at the Box Office

The clarification from Bhatt comes amid speculation that Awarapan 2 was rescheduled to dodge competition with major releases. Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar and featuring Ranveer Singh, has become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, amassing over ₹840 crore nett in India. Additionally, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, starring Kannada superstar Yash, is among the most anticipated films slated for a March 19 release.

Conclusion

As anticipation builds for Awarapan 2, fans eagerly await the film’s release. With a mix of action, romance, and a talented cast, the sequel promises to uphold the legacy of its predecessor, making it a noteworthy addition to Bollywood’s lineup.
