Cooke’s comments followed Ramaswamy’s powerful address at the Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest event, where he condemned racism and antisemitism prevalent in parts of the right-wing movement. He spoke against inflammatory remarks made by White nationalist Nick Fuentes, who denigrated Vice President JD Vance’s Hindu-Indian wife, Usha.

During his address, Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy articulated that colonial-era roots do not diminish one’s Americanness. He stated, “The notion of a heritage American is as absurd as anything proposed by the woke left,” highlighting that even figures like Donald Trump, whose mother was an immigrant, are equally American as anyone else.

Ramaswamy also denounced any form of hatred targeted at ethnic or religious groups, positing, “If you believe in normalizing hatred towards any ethnic group—be it whites, blacks, Hispanics, Jews, or Indians—you have no place in the future of the conservative movement.” This message resonated strongly within the audience of young conservatives he addressed.
