Actor-dancer Nora Fatehi recently opened up about her views on love and dating during a conversation with Lilly Singh. She stressed her independence, saying, “I don’t need him to. I have my card, I can afford the dinner. But there is a feminine side of me… I would like to see him do that because then I would like him more.”
The Impact of Success on Dating Dynamics
Nora also shared how her successful career has influenced her dating life. “I’ve heard so many people say, ‘You’re intimidating, that’s why I didn’t approach you,’” she mentioned. She questioned the societal expectation that men appreciate strong women, noting that it often feels like they prefer it from a distance. “When it comes to actually being with that kind of woman, they can feel intimidated,” she explained.
Struggling with Gender Norms
Diving deeper into her personal experiences, Nora revealed, “I feel like I’ve been in my masculine energy for too long.” She expressed her desire for a partner who could help her embrace her femininity. “I do need a man to step up a little bit so that I feel like a girl,” she shared.
The Lowering Expectations in Modern Matchmaking
Nora humorously recounted her experiences with matchmaking pressures, saying, “I have aunties sending me proposals all the time—Moroccan aunties, Indian aunties.” She further joked about the low expectations in the dating scene, noting, “The bar is so low sometimes—‘He’s educated, he has a job.’ I’m like, ‘Mama, I have that too. What are we doing here?’”
Physical Preferences and Dating Challenges
When discussing her dating preferences, Nora highlighted an interesting shift. “For the longest time, height was number one. Now it’s maybe number four. Okay, five!” She humorously remarked about the importance of height in her attraction, adding, “When I see someone tall, I’m like, ‘That’s a man.’”
The Fear of Rejection
Despite her confident public persona, Nora admitted that she struggles with making the first move in dating due to a fear of rejection. “There was this one guy I saw and I was like, ‘Oh my God, should I?’ I couldn’t do it.” She humorously concluded that missing her chance may not be such a loss after all, adding, “It’s okay… he was probably 5’9”.”
