Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor Inauguration
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi-Dehradun economic corridor on Tuesday, which is set to significantly reduce travel time between the two cities. The corridor stretches 213 km and is a six-lane access-controlled route constructed at a cost of over Rs 12,000 crore.

Environmental Considerations and Wildlife Protection
Recognizing the ecological sensitivity of the area, various features have been integrated into the corridor design to minimize human-wildlife conflict. Notably, the project incorporates a 12-km-long wildlife elevated corridor—one of the longest in Asia—as well as eight animal passes, two elephant underpasses of 200 meters each, and a 370-meter-long tunnel near Maa Daat Kali Temple.
Prime Minister’s Engagement and Public Reception
During the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi paid floral tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and later inspected the wildlife corridor section. A roadshow in Saharanpur unveiled the support from citizens, who waved enthusiastically at the Prime Minister as he passed through the streets of Dehradun.
