    Job Description Summary

    The Raymond A. Mason School of Business at William & Mary is seeking Adjunct Faculty (Section Lead) to oversee multiple 7.5-week asynchronous course sections within the Online Master of Science in Finance and Online MBA programs.     Section Leads are integral to our online program’s success, actively engaging with students and contributing to the William & Mary community. Reporting to the Faculty Lead, duties include posting course announcements, facilitating discussions, holding office hours, and providing meaningful feedback to students.

    Key Responsibilities

    As a Section Lead, your responsibilities will include:

    • Maintaining open communication with faculty and staff via email, phone, and other platforms.
    • Completing online instructor orientation and ongoing technology training annually.
    • Reviewing course materials prior to the term’s start.
    • Adhering to instructional and grading standards.
    • Posting a minimum of two weekly announcements to enhance course engagement.
    • Responding to student inquiries within 24 hours.
    • Providing timely feedback on assignments.
    • Grading assignments and exams promptly (within 48 – 72 hours).
    • Participating actively in weekly discussion boards.
    • Offering at least one virtual office hour per week.
    • Monitoring student progress and addressing concerns with the Faculty Lead.
    • Participating in weekly meetings with the Faculty Lead.
    • Submitting final grades in compliance with university policies.
    • Completing end-of-semester reflection forms and participating in debriefing meetings.

    Section Leads typically commit 15 to 20 hours per week to these responsibilities.

    Required Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or a closely related field, or an MBA with a finance concentration. (Note: A master’s degree in accounting is preferred for the Financial Statement Analysis and Modeling course.)
    • Substantial expertise and experience in finance, including areas such as financial analysis, corporate finance, and investment.
    • Experience teaching adult learners in either academic or corporate settings.
    • Proficiency in digital communication and collaborative platforms.
    • Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for diverse student populations.
    • Dedication to upholding the academic excellence of William & Mary.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Doctoral degree related to the discipline.
    • Proven excellence in teaching adult learners within a professional degree program.
    • Experience with online instruction.
    • Enthusiasm for delivering education in an online format.

    • Experience using Canvas or similar learning management systems.
