    A Johnkumar: A Political Legacy

BJP leader A Johnkumar is contesting from Nellithope. Having previously served as a minister in the outgoing N Rangasamy-led government, he was also the sitting MLA from Kamaraj Nagar. Johnkumar won this seat as a Congress candidate in 2016, and it has remained under his family’s influence, with his son, Richards Johnkumar, securing a victory in 2021 on a BJP ticket.

    V Vaithilingam: A High-Profile Contest

In the Thattanchavady constituency, former Chief Minister V Vaithilingam will face off against outgoing Chief Minister N Rangasamy. Vaithilingam, the son of Puducherry’s second chief minister, V Venkatasubba Reddiar, is currently the Puducherry Congress president and serves as the sitting MP for the Union Territory’s only Lok Sabha seat. The outcome of this contest is expected to significantly impact the chief ministerial race.
