r/technology – The new cold war: U.S. must stop China from stealing its intellectual property

The co-option of IP has has been going on for millennia, it is not new or specific to China, just a couple of examples that come to mind would be the historical appropriation of gunpowder IP from China and the appropriation of rocketry IP by the USA after WW2. And it is not just IP that has historically been stolen, it is land, resources and human freedom.

Like it or not objectively China is on the rise in terms of global wealth and subsequent influence, for a range of reasons.

I suspect what likely what will define ‘theft’ is who ultimately gets to write the dominant narrative of the coming period, as historically that is the way it has tended to be.
