JAIPUR/UDAIPUR: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted a troubling trend on Friday, referring to it as “white-collar terrorism.” This term describes the involvement of educated individuals in antisocial and anti-national activities.
Implications of the Recent Delhi Bomb Blast
Rajnath pointed to the dangerous implications of this trend, specifically referencing the November 10 car blast in Delhi, which claimed 15 lives. He remarked, “The perpetrators of the Delhi bomb blast were doctors. Those who write ‘Rx’ on prescriptions now have RDX in their hands.”
The Role of Education in Shaping Ethics
Speaking during the 104th foundation day of Bhupal Nobles’ University in Udaipur, Rajnath emphasized that education should transcend mere professional success. He stated, “Education must also focus on morality, ethics, and character.” He expressed concern over the rising pattern of educated individuals engaging in anti-national activities, attributing it to a disconnect between education, dharma (righteousness), and character.
Addressing Contemporary Challenges Through Multidisciplinary Research
Rajnath also called for a multidisciplinary approach to tackle modern challenges, ranging from environmental crises to public health threats and digital ethics. He urged universities to focus on research that yields practical, solution-driven outcomes.
