Ravi Kishan has come forward to strongly endorse the success of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh. He describes the film as a "wake-up call" for the film industry, dismissing criticism labeling it as propaganda. In a recent conversation, the actor highlighted the film’s impact, reception, and its significance in ushering in a "new cinema."
‘It’s Not Just a Film… It’s a Mirror to Society’
Ravi Kishan praises Dhurandhar as a significant eye-opener for modern cinema, stating, “It’s not just a film—it’s a truth. It has come as a mirror to society.” He elaborated on its exploration of historical conspiracies affecting the nation. He commended its artistic qualities, expressing, “This truth has been presented with strong editing, a powerful background score, and intense performances—full of energy and madness.”
‘This is Not Propaganda’
Responding to the ongoing debate regarding the film, Ravi Kishan remarked, “It’s unfortunate that people are calling it propaganda. This is not propaganda—it’s a film.” He praised the film’s origin, pointing to Aditya Dhar’s unique perspective as a young Kashmiri Pandit who has artfully depicted his pain and patriotism. He also expressed admiration for Ranveer Singh and the entire team, remarking, “They have put their heart and soul into it.” Kishan admonished critics, saying, “If you are weak, don’t try to pull down someone else’s success. Focus on your own shortcomings and create something new.”
‘It’s a Revolution’
Discussing the film’s broader impact, Ravi Kishan noted, “This is a revolution. For the first time, I’ve seen Hindi films running housefull in Andhra and Tamil Nadu like this.” He further pointed out that Dhurandhar has garnered attention even in Pakistan, with many discussing it in interviews. “Even pirated versions are trending,” he added. He believes that the South Indian film industry has embraced the film wholly, with genuine filmmakers welcoming it, creating history in the process.
‘A New Cinema Has Been Born’
Calling Dhurandhar a turning point for cinema, he asserted, “This is a wake-up call. A new cinema has been born—a new era of filmmaking has begun.” He emphasized the film’s success in presenting truth alongside entertainment, stating, “Dhurandhar has achieved that balance beautifully.” He extended accolades to Aditya Dhar, acknowledging, “Every 20 years, a filmmaker comes along who changes cinema. I welcome him.”
