Staff Machine Learning Engineer Role

We are seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join our AI team and help craft the next generation of Fullscript’s AI-driven experiences. In this senior individual contributor role, you will be pivotal in developing innovative AI capabilities that empower clinicians and improve patient health.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of production-level, multi-turn LLM-powered features, such as summarization tools and clinician-facing conversational agents.
• Manage backend services in Python, integrating LLM agents with Fullscript’s platform.
• Define technical direction for prompting, grounding, safety, and orchestration strategies in clinical AI workflows.
• Enhance evaluation approaches for LLM outputs focusing on accuracy, hallucinations, and overall feature quality.
• Establish engineering patterns for model-related workflows, including testing, CI/CD, observability, and version control.
• Collaborate with medical, product, and engineering teams to identify high-value AI opportunities.
• Provide technical leadership across projects, clarifying ambiguous problems and guiding tradeoff decisions.
• Stay updated with the latest LLM research and evaluate applicability at Fullscript.

What You Bring

• 6+ years of experience in building and implementing machine learning applications, particularly with LLM-powered agents.
• A proven track record of managing complex technical challenges end-to-end.
• Experience in designing AI systems that answer open-ended questions and support dynamic interactions.
• Strong knowledge of LLM frameworks such as LangChain or similar orchestration tools.
• Familiarity with evaluation frameworks for LLM outputs and system reliability.
• Expertise in Python and SQL, with a focus on technical decision-making.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience defining the technical direction for AI systems across multiple projects.
• Background in building high-trust AI experiences in healthcare environments.
• Expertise in recommendation systems, personalization, and applied ML beyond LLMs.
• Familiarity with modern retrieval, grounding, and evaluation methods for LLM applications.
• Collaboration with domain experts in complex problem spaces.
