“The Sangh has not emerged in competition with any other institution or organization. It exists to facilitate good deeds across the country,” Bhagwat stated.

Volunteers Making a Difference

Bhagwat highlighted the extensive efforts of RSS volunteers, noting that over 130,000 small and large service projects have been initiated across India. He stressed that these initiatives are funded by volunteers, demonstrating the commitment to societal welfare without reliance on government funding.

“In the history of our country, no organization has done such extensive work after Tathagat Buddha,” he added.

Historical Context of RSS

Discussing the socio-political climate before the RSS was established in 1925, Bhagwat pointed out that the British founded the Indian National Congress as a “safety valve,” which Indians transformed into a powerful tool for independence.

The Founder’s Struggles

Bhagwat shared insights into the life of Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the founder of the RSS. He recounted Hedgewar’s challenging childhood, marked by the loss of both parents at a young age and subsequent financial difficulties.

“Hedgewar actively participated in various freedom movements, including the Vande Mataram agitation during his school days,” he explained.

A Revolutionary Spirit

After successfully completing his matriculation with high marks, Hedgewar had the opportunity to study medicine in Kolkata, where he became involved with revolutionary groups. Bhagwat recounted an incident where Hedgewar, under the code name “Koken,” was mistakenly arrested instead of the intended target.

Celebrating a Legacy

The event also featured notable guests, including film actor Salman Khan and filmmaker Subhash Ghai. The two-day lecture series, titled "100 Years of Sangh Journey: New Horizons," aims to reflect on the RSS’s journey and its contributions to society while exploring the ideas that will shape its future.
