The Role: Sr. Software Engineer, Back-End

Key Responsibilities

As a Sr. Software Engineer focusing on Back-End operations, you will be responsible for pivotal systems at Rebuy, particularly our billing and payments infrastructure. This complex financial engine determines merchant charges and partner payouts, requiring a deep expertise in PHP and Go alongside a strong understanding of both technical and business challenges.

Billing & Payments Architecture

You will design and build our centralized billing system, tackling intricate financial engineering challenges that involve PHP and Go at scale.

API Development

Your role will include creating secure and efficient APIs to facilitate billing events and payment processing across our platform and Shopify integrations.

Legacy Modernization

You will lead efforts to transition our legacy Code Igniter 2 codebase to Code Igniter 4, a high-priority task that can influence enterprise partnerships.

Intelligent System Automation

Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate AI agents that enhance merchant workflows and experiences, establishing backend systems for automation.

Engineering Best Practices & Security

Contribute to our engineering culture by promoting best practices and maintaining strict security standards within all billing and payment systems.

Essential Qualifications

Hard Skills:

• Experience with billing and financial systems in a SaaS environment.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Over 5 years of expertise in backend development using PHP and Go.
• Proficient in designing and implementing secure RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, ideally GCP.

Soft Skills:

• Strong collaborative mindset with leadership abilities.
• Adaptability in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Genuine curiosity about the intersection of engineering and business.

Interview Process

Once your application is received and reviewed, the interview process will include:

1. An introductory call with the Talent Acquisition team.
2. An interview with the Hiring Manager.
3. A coding challenge and whiteboarding session with team members.
4. A final interview with our CEO and COO.

Compensation

Our salary range for this position is between $130,000 – $180,000 USD annually, adjusted based on geographic market conditions and individual qualifications.
