Job Description

The Client is seeking an experienced Senior Web Application Architect to collaborate within an agile team of software developers. This role focuses on implementing and maintaining secure, scalable, cloud-based software solutions, building customer integration solutions, and enhancing the team’s software delivery tools and processes. Technical expertise and a cooperative mindset are essential. Ideal candidates should be top-notch full-stack developers, with a keen interest in backend service-oriented architectures, scalable system design, databases, and API-driven models.

Key Responsibilities

• DevOps Culture: Embrace a DevOps culture within a small team of Senior SDEs and SREs to deliver modern, scalable SaaS software across various cloud providers.
• Collaborative Development: Work closely with product leadership to define architecture, goals, and deliverables for software development, including prioritizing the JIRA backlog and upcoming sprints.
• Architectural Leadership: Architect and lead the implementation of the company’s flagship SaaS platform using a scalable microservice approach with technologies such as Node.js, Express, GraphQL, Python, Django, C#, and .NET Core.
• User-Facing Web Applications: Assist in developing user-facing web applications utilizing modern MVC, MVVM, and SPA frameworks like React.js.
• Best Practices: Follow software development best practices to create maintainable and extensible software solutions.
• CI/CD Methodologies: Utilize modern CI/CD tools and methodologies to ship products daily.
• Agile Practices: Operate in an agile manner with transparent and fluid communication within the engineering team and across the company.
• Requirement Understanding: Collaborate with the product owner to comprehend internal and external requirements, helping design solutions to meet those needs.
• Platform Stability: Work with Senior SREs to enhance overall platform stability, availability, and quality.
• Triage and Debugging: Interact directly with SREs and customers to triage, debug, and resolve production issues.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Formal degrees in STEM fields or vocational certificates related to software development are preferred, but real-world experience is equally valued.
• Professional Experience: 5+ years of experience architecting software in modern SaaS, cloud, web, and mobile environments.
• Programming Expertise: 7+ years of programming experience with languages and frameworks: React, Angular, TypeScript, Node, Express, Ruby, Rails, Python, Django, C#, .NET.
• Cloud and Sysadmin Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud systems and Linux sysadmin experience, including IaaS, PaaS, and container/orchestration technologies.
• Development Experience: Proven experience in shipping products using client-side JavaScript frameworks and backend dynamic languages within a service-oriented architecture.
• Continuous Delivery: A successful track record in a continuous delivery environment.
• Containerization Skills: Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes (or similar).
• Database Proficiency: Expertise with various relational and NoSQL databases like MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, CouchDB, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, MongoDB, and Redis.
• API Design Knowledge: Strong understanding of modern API design patterns (REST, GraphQL, JSON, etc.).
• Source Control Familiarity: Understanding of source control systems (git, hg, etc.) and related workflows (e.g., GitFlow).
• Big Data Understanding: Familiarity with Big Data systems such as Hadoop, HBase, HDFS, Spark, Kafka is a plus.
• Security Awareness: Knowledge of privacy-by-design frameworks and code-level security techniques is beneficial.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication and documentation skills are required.
