Yaseen Khan Challenges Celebrity Bodyguard Salary Myths

Amid widespread discussions about celebrity bodyguards allegedly earning crores every year, former security aide to Shah Rukh Khan, Yaseen Khan, has spoken out. He claims that such salary figures are far from reality, shedding light on the actual payment structure within the industry.

Debunking Viral Salary Figures as ‘Misleading’

Addressing the recent social media buzz that bodyguards earn between ₹2 to ₹2.5 crore annually, Yaseen stated that these figures are heavily exaggerated. He emphasized, "It’s not like people earn ₹2-2.5 crore. If someone is a bodyguard for a big star, they have a fixed salary. Additionally, for films, a separate contract is created which influences their payment."

The Historical Pay Gap in the Industry

Yaseen reminisced about the early days of his career, noting that bodyguards were often overlooked for project-based payments. “In the film industry, bodyguards were not compensated the way others were,” he explained. "When I began working with Shah Rukh Khan, I realized we were also contributing to the film, yet our salaries were just enough to get by."

Initiating Change in Compensation Practices

Yaseen took the initiative to address this pay disparity, which eventually led to significant improvements across the industry. "I approached producers to discuss fair compensation," he revealed. "Gradually, they began recognizing our contributions and offered payment for films and ads. My situation inspired others, leading to a new trend where most bodyguards began receiving proper pay."

Gaining Support from Gauri Khan

Before advocating for change, Yaseen sought approval from Gauri Khan. "I explained to her that my colleagues receive compensation during shoots, and she graciously permitted me to do the same," he shared. This conversation sparked positive changes, facilitating better agreements with producers.

Questioning High Monthly Salary Claims

Yaseen also expressed skepticism over claims that bodyguards earn upwards of ₹8–10 lakh monthly. "It’s hard to believe anyone earns that much unless agreed upon mutually between the celebrity and the bodyguard. But salaries are generally not that high," he noted, challenging the narrative of exorbitant earnings.

From Bodyguard to Entrepreneur

Having served as Shah Rukh Khan’s personal bodyguard for over a decade, Yaseen launched his own security firm, YK PROSEC, in 2015. Located in Mumbai, his business now provides VIP protection and event security for high-profile clients such as Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.
