Maneesh Sharma Reflects on His Collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan
During an interview with The Indian Express, Maneesh Sharma celebrated the decade since ‘Fan’ was released. He shared insights on the filmmaking process and provided an inside look at Shah Rukh Khan’s on-set contributions. The director praised King Khan for bringing dual characters to life, stating that he truly gave justice to the story. Although the film wasn’t a massive box office success initially, it remains fondly remembered across India. Maneesh noted, “What Shah Rukh brought to Aryan is truly one of a kind. In many of our discussions, he added intricate details to Aryan’s character. For instance, the moment in the wedding sequence where the businessman shuts Aryan down was actually Shah Rukh’s idea.”

Maneesh also highlighted Shah Rukh Khan’s improvisational skills during filming. “There were many moments where SRK added layers to his character, enhancing the overall narrative. These small, subtle moments are difficult to describe, but there’s a palpable sense of vulnerability that he brought to the performance, executed with such gravitas,” he added.

The film’s storyline follows Gaurav, a young man obsessed with Bollywood superstar Aryan Khanna, whom he closely resembles. Gaurav idolizes Aryan, but when the superstar rejects his admiration, Gaurav concocts a scheme for revenge. The film intricately explores themes of obsession and identity, making it a standout in Shah Rukh Khan’s filmography.
