The forensic report revealed negative test results from hair and nail samples taken from Shine. With this clear indication, it is anticipated that the case registered against him by the Ernakulam North Police will be dropped.
Incident Details: What Happened at the Hotel?
The incident occurred in April when a DANSAF team targeted a hotel in Kaloor, pursuing a person suspected of leading drug distribution networks in cities like Kochi. During their operation, Shine Tom Chacko and a friend were staying at the hotel. Upon the team’s arrival at their room, Shine fled by jumping out of a rear window from the third floor. CCTV footage later captured him leaving the hotel and checking into another nearby establishment.
Police Case and Shine’s Stand
After the incident, despite searching the hotel room and finding no drugs, the police reported that Shine’s escape was a desperate attempt to evade questioning, implying his behavior indicated drug use. Consequently, a case was registered against him and his friend Ahmed Murshad under Section 27 of the NDPS Act. Shine later appeared before the police two days following the event, explaining that he mistook their knock for a threat from intruders. The recent forensic report has contradictorily dismissed the police’s claims of drug involvement.
Past Cases and Final Outcomes
Previously, Shine’s statement was recorded regarding a case involving Tasleema, a woman arrested in Alappuzha with hybrid ganja, but he was found to be uninvolved. In a separate 2015 cocaine-related case, he was cleared of any wrongdoing after ten years of legal battles. Tragically, after that case, Shine’s father passed away in a road accident while traveling to Bengaluru for treatment related to Shine’s recovery journey. Shine has since stated that he has overcome his addiction.
