The rapper Offset was ambushed by a large group of people who attempted to rob him outside a Florida casino last week. The FBI confirmed that Offset was shot in the leg during the incident.
Details of the Assault
Federal investigators are actively searching for the suspects involved in the assault that took place last Monday night outside the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, just north of Miami. During the attack, a single shot was fired into Offset’s leg, and the assailants attempted to steal the rapper’s watch. Fortunately, Offset was hospitalized for only a couple of days and quickly returned to the stage at a performance during a music festival at the University of Arkansas on Saturday.
Police Response and Investigation
Following the shooting, law enforcement detained two individuals, although no concrete evidence linking them to the shooting has been released. One of those detained was rapper Lil Tjay, born Tione Jayden Merritt. He was arrested in connection with an altercation that occurred prior to the shooting. The Seminole Police Department reported that Lil Tjay faced charges of disorderly conduct and operating a vehicle without a valid license. His lawyer, Dawn M. Florio, clarified to The Associated Press that Lil Tjay did not possess a gun and was not charged with any weapons-related offenses. He was later released after posting bond.
About Offset’s Musical Career
Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, began his career as a member of Migos, one of the most influential hip-hop groups in history. The Atlanta trio is renowned for their rapid-fire triplet flow, a delivery style that has significantly impacted trap music. Migos has produced several multiplatinum singles, including the chart-topping “Bad and Boujee,” along with hits like “Stir Fry” and “Narcos.” Over the course of their career, the group released four full-length albums. Tragically, Offset’s cousin Takeoff, another member of Migos, was shot and killed at a Houston bowling alley more than three years ago.
