A farmer from Pune district has filed a civil lawsuit against actor Sonali Bendre and her filmmaker husband Goldie Behl, accusing them of land encroachment and “mafia-style” intimidation. The actress, however, has denied the allegations, calling the case a false attempt to extort money.

Farmers Allege Illegal Takeover and Intimidation

A farmer from Pune, Chandrakant Balu Shinde (50), along with his mother Kamalbai (75), has filed a lawsuit claiming that Sonali Bendre and Goldie Behl improperly used their influence to take possession of their land in Uksan village, located in Maval taluka. According to the suit, the couple allegedly enlisted local police assistance to forcibly claim the property, which spans over 32,000 sq. ft. The lawsuit was officially filed last month in a Vadgaon Maval civil court, with the next hearing scheduled for April 24.

    Claim of Decades-Old Tenancy Rights

The Shinde family claims to have cultivated the disputed land as protected tenants since the 1940s. They allege that their names were unjustly removed from revenue records in the 1980s without any notification. The conflict escalated after the original landowners sold the property to an individual in 2012, who later sold a portion to Goldie Behl in March 2021. The Shindes describe these transactions as “illegal and void,” asserting that their tenancy rights were never legally annulled.

Allegations of Threats and Police Bias

The plaintiffs have also raised serious concerns about intimidation and abuse of power. They claim that on December 14, 2025, Sonali Bendre and Goldie Behl appeared on their land with workers and machinery to start unauthorized construction. When 75-year-old Kamalbai tried to intervene, she was allegedly threatened. Furthermore, the Shindes assert that police officers present at the scene warned them of potential false theft charges should they continue to confront the couple.

    Sonali Bendre Denies Allegations

In response to these allegations, Sonali Bendre has stated that her name does not appear on any land purchase documents associated with the Maval property. Her attorney, Raju Shinde, dismissed the charges as baseless, calling the case a “false narrative orchestrated solely to extort money.” Both parties are now poised to present their respective arguments in court as the legal battle unfolds.
