A Heartfelt Tribute to Dharmendra
Sunny Deol recently made an emotional appearance in Jaisalmer for the song launch of "Ghar Kab Aaoge" from his much-anticipated film Border 2. Surrounded by the cast and crew, Sunny took a moment to honor the legacy of his father, Dharmendra, and shared inspired memories from shooting the original Border.
Reflecting on Legacy
During his speech, Sunny reminisced about the impact of his father’s war drama, Haqeeqat, which deeply influenced his decision to pursue a similar path. He remarked, “Kaise hain aap log? Mein aapke parivaar ka hissa hi hoon, jab se maine Border ki hain…” (How are you all? I have been a part of your family ever since I did Border.) His emotional connection to his father’s work was evident as he added that his love for the film drove him to create something meaningful with director JP Dutta.
Haqeeqat: A Timeless Classic
Released in 1964, Haqeeqat depicted the 1962 Sino-Indian War, following a small platoon of soldiers in Ladakh as they faced overwhelming odds. The film, with Dharmendra in the lead role, is considered a classic in Indian war cinema and continues to resonate with audiences today.
Personal Reflections Amid Grief
In a candid moment, Sunny shared his emotional state, stating, “Main zyada kuch nahi bol paaunga, mera dimaag hila hua hain.” (I won’t be able to say much; I am a little shaken.) This sentiment reflects the profound loss he feels after the passing of his father on November 24 at the age of 89. Dharmendra’s last appearance on screen was in the war drama Ikkis, released shortly after his passing.
What’s Next for Border 2
Border 2, the sequel to the iconic 1997 film, is directed by Anurag Singh and boasts a star-studded cast, including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Produced by T-Series and JP Dutta’s company, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on January 23, 2026. Audiences can expect intense war sequences, high drama, and a heartfelt tribute to courage and patriotism.
