Zimbabwe Announces 15-Member Squad for T20 World Cup 2026

Zimbabwe Cricket has officially declared their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.

    Sikandar Raza: Captaincy and Leadership

The squad will be led by the seasoned all-rounder Sikandar Raza, continuing his role as captain as Zimbabwe aims to make a significant impact on the global stage. Raza’s experience and leadership are expected to be pivotal for the team’s performance.

    Squad Selection and Key Returns

The selectors have primarily retained a core group of players, reflecting their trust in a settled team dynamic. Notably, Blessing Muzarabani makes his return to the squad following a period of injury recovery. His absence during the T20I triangular series in Pakistan last November was felt, and his fitness is a welcomed boost for Zimbabwe’s bowling attack.

Bowling Line-Up: Strengthening the Pace Unit

Muzarabani will spearhead the pace bowling unit alongside left-arm fast bowler Richard Ngarava. The pace attack will also feature emerging talents Bradley Evans and Tinotenda Maposa, providing a versatile mix to adapt to varying conditions they will encounter in India and Sri Lanka.

    Spin Department: Experience Matters

In the spin department, Zimbabwe has opted for experience by recalling veteran spinner Graeme Cremer. He will join forces with Wellington Masakadza, adding tactical depth to the bowling strategy.

    Young Talent to Watch

The squad also includes young batters Brian Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani, both poised to make their T20 World Cup debuts and capture attention on an international platform. Wicketkeeper-batter Brendan Taylor brings much-needed experience to the lineup, further bolstered by all-rounder Ryan Burl.

    A Versatile and Well-Rounded Team

Completing the squad are: Tashinga Musekiwa, Clive Madande, Tony Munyonga, and Dion Myers. This combination results in a flexible and well-rounded team, ready to face the challenges ahead.

    Group Stage Matches and Opponents

Zimbabwe has been placed in Group B, where they will compete against heavyweights like Australia, Ireland, and co-hosts Sri Lanka, along with Oman. The top two teams from this group will advance to the Super Eight stage.

    Schedule: Zimbabwe’s Opening Matches

Zimbabwe’s campaign kicks off against Oman on February 9 in Colombo. This will be followed by matches against Australia on February 13, Ireland on February 17 in Kandy, and a concluding group stage match against Sri Lanka on February 19 in Colombo.
