Introduction of the Manifesto Portal
NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin launched the party’s election manifesto portal 2026 on Saturday at the party headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, in Chennai. This initiative marks the commencement of the preparations for the upcoming assembly elections.
Encouraging Public Participation
Stalin introduced several communication platforms for the DMK Election Manifesto Drafting Committee, including an official email ID, WhatsApp number, and social media channels. These tools are designed to collect ideas and suggestions from various sections of society for the party’s election manifesto.
Key Announcement: Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme
In addition to the manifesto portal, Stalin announced the establishment of the “Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme.” This scheme aims to extend the benefits of the Old Pension Scheme, ensuring that government employees receive a pension equal to 50% of their last drawn salary. The state government will cover the additional amount needed for the Pension Fund, beyond the 10% contribution from employees.
Voices from the Party Leadership
Addressing the gathering, MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi expressed the importance of public opinion in shaping the manifesto. She stated, "This manifesto should be the people’s manifesto," and highlighted the purpose of the newly launched portal, which allows citizens to provide input in various formats.
AI-Driven Suggestions
Kanimozhi mentioned that the portal would leverage AI to generate recommendations based on the inputs received from the public. She reiterated the DMK’s commitment to consistently meet the promises made to the people.
Political Context and Reactions
The launch of the manifesto portal occurred amid political tensions, with Congress MP Jothimani making critical remarks about the DMK. She warned that internal conflicts within her party were hindering their electoral responsibilities and called attention to the broader challenges facing Tamil Nadu.
Furthermore, BJP spokesperson CR Kesavan criticized the DMK government’s management of state issues, claiming it exemplified a “failure model” in Tamil Nadu.
Conclusion
As Tamil Nadu prepares for the assembly elections later this year, the DMK’s new initiative aims to foster greater public engagement and address citizens’ concerns through a collaborative manifesto drafting process.
