Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Nomination
Udhayanidhi Stalin, the son of Chief Minister MK Stalin, filed his nomination as the
DMK candidate. He held a vibrant roadshow en route to the Returning Officer’s office. Currently, he serves as the sitting MLA from the constituency and is contending against
AIADMK candidate Adhirajaram. “We will create history; we will definitely win this time. Our leader will become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the second time,” he stated with confidence.
In the previous 2021 elections, Udhayanidhi secured his seat with a significant margin of 69,355 votes. On Wednesday, he also announced various welfare measures, including Rs 8,000 coupons for essential household items such as TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines. Additionally, he declared that laptops had already been provided to 10 lakh college students.
Vijay Files His Nomination
TVK president and renowned actor Vijay filed his nomination from the Trichy East constituency on Friday. He had previously filed from Perambur on Monday, contesting from both constituencies. He will face DMK candidates RD Sekar in Perambur and Inigo S Irudayaraj in Trichy East. A large crowd of party workers gathered to welcome him at Tiruchirappalli airport ahead of the filing.
Earlier, Vijay unveiled his party manifesto, which includes plans for anti-drug protection zones in schools and colleges. “Our primary goal is to create a drug-free Tamil Nadu,” he emphasized.
Election Timeline
Tamil Nadu will hold elections in a single phase on April 23 for all 234 constituencies, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
