TVK Chief Vijay Dismisses Four-Cornered Contest in Tamil Nadu Elections

Real Battle: TVK vs. DMK

TVK chief Vijay has openly rejected the notion of a "four-cornered" contest in the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections. He emphasized that the real competition lies between his party, TVK, and the ruling DMK. While addressing supporters at a rally, Vijay stated, “This election is not about multiple options; it’s between an anti-people Stalin government and Vijay, who prioritizes the people’s welfare.”

Innovative Governance Model

During his address, Vijay unveiled his vision for "21st-century good governance." He proposed the establishment of India’s first Ministry of Artificial Intelligence along with an AI City and a dedicated AI University. He highlighted the potential contributions of the AI sector to India’s economy, projecting a contribution of USD 1.7 trillion by 2035.

Welfare Initiatives for Citizens

Vijay also introduced the concept of a "Tamil Nadu Citizen Privilege Card,” designed to facilitate direct doorstep delivery of welfare benefits without intermediaries. He criticized the current governance model as being inefficient and corrupt, asserting, “Bribery extends beyond officials to ministers. We will dismantle this system.”

Legislative Proposals for a Better Tamil Nadu

Vijay pledged to enact a "Right to Service Act" within six months of taking office. Additionally, he announced his plans for the “Vettri Tamil Nadu” Super App, which aims to digitize essential public services, including ration cards and driving licenses.

Financial Concerns and Accountability

Addressing the financial state of Tamil Nadu, Vijay raised alarms about the debt surpassing Rs 10.5 lakh crore. He claimed that the borrowings in recent years have exceeded those of prior decades, stating, “Every rupee spent on interest is a rupee stolen from your child’s education and your family’s healthcare.”

Encouraging Citizen Participation

In a bid to enhance democratic engagement, Vijay proposed a “People’s Forum” to foster digital participation. This initiative would allow petitions with 5 lakh verified signatures to be discussed in the state assembly, ensuring that citizens have a voice in governance.

The Call for Change

Vijay urged voters to support his party, calling for a "Whistle Revolution," which relates to the party’s symbol. He assured his supporters, “I have come for you, bearing all the pain, and I will never cheat you with lies. Give your brother one chance.”

Campaign Setbacks and Planning

While the campaign has been largely proactive, it has experienced some disruptions, including canceled meetings and scheduling confusion. Vijay previously canceled a speech in Karaikudi, leading to disappointment among supporters. However, TVK general secretary N Anand confirmed that the Kanyakumari rally would go ahead and advised supporters to participate virtually to avoid overcrowding.

Upcoming Rally and Election Date

Looking forward, Vijay is scheduled to address a rally in Aranthangi, Pudukkottai, on April 14, although details are yet to be confirmed. The pivotal elections for the 234-member Tamil Nadu assembly are set to take place on April 23, making this a critical period for all parties involved.
