Kiara Advani has publicly shared how online speculation about her appearance briefly led her to question her self-worth. Although she typically ignores trolls to protect her mental health, she admitted that negative comments still affect her. In her own words, she emphasized the importance of respect, urging people to remember that public figures are human and have feelings too.

Reflecting on the scrutiny surrounding her, Kiara revealed that comments regarding plastic surgery caught her off guard. After attending an event, images of her circulated on social media, accompanied by comments suggesting she had undergone cosmetic procedures. She expressed her surprise at the uproar, stating, “Main kisi event ke liye gayi thi, jo pictures bahar aaye (I went for an event and when the pictures that came out) on different social media platforms, there were a lot of comments about, ‘Oh, she has done plastic surgery.’”

The persistent nature of these comments began to influence her self-perception. Kiara confessed, “And the irony of it was main almost believe karne lagi ki maine kuch kiya hai apne aap ko (I almost began to believe that I did something to my face).” This experience highlights how repeated claims can distort one’s reality, leading even the strongest individuals to doubt themselves.

Learning to Navigate Online Negativity

In discussing her strategy for dealing with online negativity, Kiara noted that ignoring harmful comments often serves as her defense mechanism, although it doesn’t always provide complete protection. She remarked, “I say that I ignore it but it is a form of protecting yourself.”

Advocating for kindness in digital interactions, she urged people to be respectful and empathetic, reminding everyone that “ki yaar yeh bhi insaan hai, inke bhi emotions hote hain (that we are humans too and we also have emotions).”
