In a significant development, Uttarakhand announced that its services under the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) are now accessible in all 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, along with English. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and ease of access for all citizens.
AI Assistance for Seamless Registration
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) confirmed that applicants can utilize AI-based assistance to better understand the UCC process and complete their registrations efficiently. This support aims to eliminate confusion and streamline the registration experience.
Multilingual Platform for Better Accessibility
The newly developed multilingual platform allows applicants to access vital information regarding UCC rules, procedures, and required documents in their preferred language. Applicants can also submit their applications in the same language, promoting inclusivity and accessibility across linguistic barriers.
Technology-Driven Solutions in UCC Implementation
The website, created by the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA), is available in multiple languages including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Sindhi, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Santhali, and Manipuri. This extensive language support showcases the state’s commitment to innovation.

Chief Minister Dhami emphasized that from the outset, the government’s strategy focused on moving from simplification to effective solutions. Special care has been taken to ensure that citizens encounter no difficulties during the registration process. He noted, "UCC has emerged as a successful example of technological excellence," highlighting the absence of complaints regarding the UCC process over the past year.
