Hailing from a prominent business family, Singhania took the reins as the Chairman and Managing Director of Raymond for over two decades. Under his visionary leadership, the company evolved from a woolen blanket manufacturer, originally acquired from E.D. Sassoon & Co. in 1944, into a diversified conglomerate. Raymond expanded into various sectors, including synthetic fabrics, denim, steel, industrial files, and cement, becoming one of India’s most recognizable clothing brands.

Record-Setting Aviator

In November 2005, Vijaypat Singhania made headlines worldwide by setting a world record at the age of 67. He ascended to an altitude of 69,000 feet in a hot air balloon, a daring feat that showcased his adventurous spirit. Taking off from the Mumbai racecourse in a pressurized capsule, he landed near Nashik after a thrilling five-hour flight.

Singhania is survived by his wife, Ashadevi, and his three children: Gautam, Madhupati, and Shephali Ruia.
