Major Crackdown on the ‘Jana Nayagan’ Leak

The State Cyber Crime Wing of the Tamil Nadu Police announced the arrest of three additional individuals in connection with the leak of the Vijay starrer, ‘Jana Nayagan’. This follows the earlier arrest of six suspects, bringing the total to nine. Authorities assert that these arrests target the main criminals involved in this illicit operation.

How the Main Accused Stole the Film

According to an IANS report, the police detailed the methodology behind the crime. The principal suspect, a freelance assistant editor for another film, abused his access to secure reels from the editing studio. The police confirmed that this individual gained unauthorized access to the film’s reels, thus facilitating the theft.

Pirated Copies Spread Online

After securing the film reels, the accused proceeded to create a full movie file. The stolen content was processed into a movie and circulated among co-conspirators, resulting in the rapid dissemination of pirated copies online. Authorities revealed that the arrested individuals would be presented before the Hon’ble Court for judicial custody.

Police Issue Strict Warning on Piracy

The police issued a strong warning stating, “Any involvement in digital piracy, including forwarding or promoting such content, will face severe legal repercussions.” They urged the public not to download or share any pirated material and to report any leaks or illegal links immediately. The cyber crime division is committed to ongoing actions against anyone involved in the piracy of ‘Jana Nayagan.’

Originally scheduled for release on January 9, ‘Jana Nayagan’ experienced delays due to legal issues involving the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Directed by H Vinoth, the film features a star-studded cast including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Mamitha Baiju.
