Recently, a video surfaced on social media showing litter scattered across one of the coaches of the high-tech Vande Bharat Sleeper, which connects Howrah and Guwahati. The train was flagged off on Saturday, and the video, recorded by a passenger in Malda, depicts plastic packets and spoons left behind in the new train.

Passenger Demand and Service Details

According to the Ministry of Railways, the first commercial run of the Vande Bharat Sleeper between Kamakhya and Howrah saw all tickets sell out within hours of bookings opening. This increased demand underscores the desire for improved travel options in the region.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Vande Bharat Sleeper train from Malda town in West Bengal on January 17. This service aims to enhance long-distance overnight travel, providing a faster and more comfortable experience while improving connectivity between eastern India and the Northeast.

Efficient Travel Experience

The semi-high-speed, fully air-conditioned train will operate six days a week, excluding Wednesdays from Kamakhya and Thursdays from Howrah. It is set to complete the Howrah–Kamakhya journey in about 14 hours, making it the fastest train on that route. Key stops include Malda Town, New Jalpaiguri, New Cooch Behar, and New Alipurduar.

This new service is anticipated to benefit passengers traveling between West Bengal and Assam, particularly those who frequently make overnight journeys.
