Anil Kapoor Commemorates 18 Years of ‘Welcome’ with Heartfelt Tribute to Feroz Khan

Marking 18 years since the release of the iconic film ‘Welcome’, Anil Kapoor reflects on the project with deep appreciation. He shares an emotional tribute to the late Feroz Khan, highlighting the legendary actor’s unforgettable performance as RDX, which is often credited as the film’s standout element.

    A Tribute to Feroz Khan

In his tribute, Kapoor praised Khan’s explosive energy and commanding presence, asserting that Feroz’s dynamic acting elevated the entire film. He reminisced about their collaboration, acknowledging that ‘Welcome’ wasn’t the same without RDX, just as ‘Mr. India’ wouldn’t be complete without the character of Mogambo.

    Throwback Photos Capture Nostalgia

On Sunday, Anil Kapoor shared nostalgic throwback images from ‘Welcome’ on his X (formerly Twitter) account. The series of photos showcases him alongside Feroz Khan and Nana Patekar. One monochrome image from 1986 captures the late actor embracing Anil warmly. Kapoor’s heartfelt caption read:

“18 years of Welcome. This one’s for Feroz Khan Saab. Welcome wasn’t Welcome without RDX, just like Mr. India wasn’t complete without Mogambo. Both are irreplaceable. Period.”

    Behind-the-Scenes Anecdote

Recalling the film’s development, Kapoor mentioned, “I remember hearing the script and wondering how it would land. Anees Bazmee assured me, ‘Chinta mat karo… Feroz Saab picture utha lenge.’ And he did. RDX lifted the film. This film, this character, this madness, magic.”

    Film Background and Cast

Released in 2007, ‘Welcome’ was co-written and directed by Anees Bazmee. Loosely inspired by the 1999 British film ‘Mickey Blue Eyes’, the movie features a stellar ensemble cast, including Feroz Khan, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Paresh Rawal, and Mallika Sherawat. Special appearances by Sunil Shetty and Malaika Arora added extra charm to the film.

    Feroz Khan’s Final Role

‘Welcome’ also marked Feroz Khan’s last on-screen appearance, as he sadly passed away two years later due to lung cancer. His legacy and memorable performance continue to resonate with fans and the film industry alike.
