Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind argues that names associated with the Nizam era represent oppression and should be replaced to foster cultural pride and national identity. He stated, “These names remind us of that period. They need to be changed.”

Supporting this viewpoint, Telangana BJP State President Ramchander Rao confirmed, “Our Nizamabad MP has given a statement that if the BJP comes to power, we will change the name of Nizamabad to Indur. The BJP is with him.” Rao emphasized that this renaming proposal extends beyond Nizamabad, claiming several locations in Telangana still bear names from the Nizam rule, which he describes as historically marked by atrocities.
