Yuzvendra Chahal Opens Up About Life After Divorce

Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has recently shared insights into his life post-divorce from actor-dancer Dhanashree Verma. Following their separation, finalized in March last year, Chahal emphasizes that he has completely moved on and has no intention of revisiting the past.

“That Chapter is Over Now”

In a candid interview with Mashable India, the leg-spinner discussed the emotional burden of the separation and his commitment to moving forward. “It was a chapter in my life, which is over now. I’ve left that space now. I don’t want to remain stuck there,” Chahal stated.

In a display of maturity, he noted that there’s no bitterness between him and Dhanashree. “I’m happy in my life, she’s happy in hers. What is one going to get by making someone miserable?” he added.

Public Scrutiny and Alimony Discussions

The divorce proceedings attracted considerable media attention, particularly concerning claims that Chahal was required to pay an alimony of Rs 4 crore. This aspect of the divorce led to Chahal making subtle social media references to the issue. He previously shared—then deleted—an Instagram Story commenting on a Delhi High Court order pertaining to alimony, and made light-hearted comments in an exchange with fellow cricketer Shikhar Dhawan.

Controversy Over “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy” T-Shirt

Chahal found himself embroiled in controversy when he wore a “Be your own sugar daddy” T-shirt during court proceedings. The shirt sparked backlash on social media, with some users unfairly labeling Dhanashree Verma a “gold-digger.” While Chahal did not directly address the controversy in the interview, his remarks indicate a desire to move past this challenging period.

In reflecting on his emotional state, Chahal clarified that he found closure immediately after the legal proceedings concluded. “It was done and dusted right after stepping out of the court,” he affirmed.
